Goldilocks and the Three Bears Puppets

One of my favourite songs at music class is Becky's rendition of Goldilocks and the three bears - you have to be there to appreciate the brilliant impressions! So when it came to our last session it seemed perfect to base our gift on this song.

I drew some ideas, measured my hand and designed each character.

I hand stitched the faces, french knots for eyes,

and used fabric glue for the other pieces.

I added a couple of stitches to each ear to make them a little more shaped.

I then zig zagged stitched front and backs together on the sewing machine.

I think the simple designs are really effective,

each bear has it's own character - perfect for acting out the story of Goldilocks.

Guitar Cake

So I asked the kids what sort of cake would should make Calum - after much discussion it was agreed a guitar would be perfect!

Treating myself to a new square tin I cut out a shape of the guitar body and used a chocolate swiss roll as the neck. Strawberry laces for strings, mint chocolate sticks for frets and white buttons finished it off!

World Book Day - Dennis the Menace

So this year World Book Day didn't catch me out! After some discussion it was Finn's Beano that provided the inspiration and nothing could be more fitting than Dennis the Menace.

Using the World Book Day top tips I got a red long sleeve cotton top and some black fabric paint and painted stripes - much cheaper and better quality than the nylon versions online!

We settled on his thick sweatshirt shorts and some long black football socks and made the hair out of black craft paper.

The catapult was the final touch but went to school without it's missiles!

Luckily Sophie was Angeline Ballerina so required no additional costume creation.
